Granular Email Notification Preferences with Role-Based Permissions

➑️ Next

Currently, all Super Admins and Admins in our portal receive every system email update, regardless of whether it applies to their responsibilities. This creates unnecessary inbox noise and dilutes attention from critical alerts.

We propose adding granular email notification preferences for internal users, ideally working in tandem with editable role permissions, so communication and access can be aligned more precisely to each team member’s role.

Key elements of the request:

  • Role-based notification control: Link email alerts to role responsibilities (e.g., Billing, Orders, Tasks, Tickets, General System Updates).

  • User-level opt-in/out: Allow Admins to toggle categories on/off for their personal inbox, ensuring only relevant alerts are delivered.

  • Slack integration override: When Slack integration is active, provide the option to turn off email notifications altogether and rely on Slack for real-time updates, avoiding duplication.

  • Editable role permissions: Pairing this with editable permissions ensures that users not only receive the right notifications but also have the correct access rights, creating consistency across alerts and system access.

This enhancement would reduce alert fatigue, improve focus, and create a cleaner alignment between permissions, responsibilities, and communications inside our portal.
